Video: Large alligator puts up a fight against trapper in South Carolina after invading neighborhood

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. – Residents in Dorchester County, South Carolina, were given a scare last weekend after a massive alligator was found roaming the neighborhood.

On Friday, first responders were called regarding a large alligator that had wandered onto the property of one person’s home, according to Storyful News.

Homeowner Amy Brandi told Storyful that she didn’t realize what was happening until she noticed a large crowd gathering outside the house.

"We just saw all these people gathering outside our house and as we went to open the front door to see what the commotion was, we saw the giant alligator lying right outside the door," Brandi said.

The gator did his best to resist the expert trapper and several police officers, often moving around the property to evade capture.

The trapper uses a rod with a stainless steel cable to grab hold of the large reptile, but the gator puts up a good fight, twisting and hissing at the expert before breaking free repeatedly.

Footage shared by Brandi shows the gator evade under a car in the driveway before being nudged out and into the spotlight as police officers provide light to the expert.

Every time the trapper hooks the gator, it becomes a brief tug-of-war, with the beast thrashing and twisting until it is eventually defeated.

"This is a real tango," Brandi said from behind the camera.

With some help, the trapper eventually was able to capture, hold down and tie the gator's legs so it could be carried out and removed from the neighborhood.

After three hours, the alligator was taken away from the resident’s front yard.
