The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said that the quake struck at 10:34 a.m. local time (2:34 p.m. EST) about 57 miles north-northwest of Aleneva, Alaska at a depth of around 54 miles. 

Light to moderate shaking was reported in the region and residents who live in nearby areas, according to the USGS.

This means the shaking was felt indoors by many people, while only a few people reported feeling it outdoors.

Dishes, windows and doors were disturbed, while some people reported cracked walls and described the shaking as feeling like a truck had struck the building. Parked motor vehicles were also reported to have rocked noticeably.
