Los Angeles sees cooler temperatures as rest of US bakes in heat wave
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – As millions of Americans settle into the persistent summer heat, residents in Los Angeles are looking for any break in the weather to come.
As a relentless heat wave scorches many people on the East Coast and in the Midwest, Americans in the West are a bit luckier, with cooler temperatures in the forecast.
Millions of Americans are under extreme heat alerts, with large areas such as New York City expected to experience back-to-back 100-degree days for the first time since 2011.
Thankfully, as forecasters monitor conditions across the country, popular cities such as Los Angeles are experiencing the most ideal temperatures as we approach the holiday weekend.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the region is mostly cloudy with winds around 10 mph, creating the perfect feel-good temperatures.
As a result, prediction markets at Kalshi are expecting an 80% chance that temperatures will drop to 61 degrees or lower on Wednesday.
It is worth noting that experts are also predicting a trending 10% chance of temperatures dropping to 59 to 60 degrees.
By later tonight, the NWS expects temperatures to drop to around 58 degrees, making for a cool and pleasant evening.
