Flood threat ramps up across US as rounds of heavy rain target Southwest and Southeast

Wet weather returns across parts of the U.S. this week, with rainfall expected Tuesday, raising flood threats in some areas.

Portions of the Southwest and Southeast are expected to see heavy rain and storms today, along with a multi-day threat.

In the Southwest, severe storms and heavy rain are expected in New Mexico as a strong upper-level trough moves across the region by midweek, bringing increased moisture.

Because of the expected widespread heavy rainfall, a Level 2 out of 4 flash flood threat is active from Wednesday through Thursday.

Outside the heavy rainfall, the region is expected to experience serious storm conditions, with a primary threat of damaging wind and hail until Thursday.
